About This Game

Years after Rion Gryphonheart's death, his soul is stolen from Paradise and dragged into the depths of the Underworld. The Ancestors dispatch Tarnum to help Queen Allison of Erathia rescue her father's spirit. Descending layer by layer—securing the Orb of Inhibition to earn passage from the Boatman, battling Necromancers, and surviving nightmare-induced revelations at each level—Tarnum learns a secret: Allison is the daughter of his long-lost sister, whom Rion Gryphonheart had saved from Tarnum's own barbarian forces. Tarnum keeps this hidden from his men. Deeper still, a powerful demon named Deezelisk—blinded by Rion Gryphonheart in battle—demands his sight restored before he will reveal the location of the demon Jorm, who holds Rion's soul. Tarnum fulfills the bargain, kills Jorm, and frees Rion's spirit. In the chaos of the final battle, Deezelisk turns on Allison and she is taken captive. Tarnum is killed in the fighting but returns through the Ancestors' intervention, regroups, defeats Deezelisk, and rescues Allison. On the day he is to be named her Protector, Tarnum quietly slips away. Allison never sees him again.
