Heroes Chronicles: The Sword of Frost

A direct sequel to Clash of the Dragons, The Sword of Frost sees Tarnum assume control over the dungeon creatures of Nighon to pursue one mission: stop Gelu, wielder of Armageddon's Blade, from reaching and destroying the Sword of Frost. An ancient prophecy warns that the meeting of the two legendary blades will end the world—but Gelu, only knowing they must be destroyed together, does not understand the precise and delicate conditions required. Tarnum's campaign through the northern lands of the half-Vori Gelu's ancestral allies is complicated by internal dissent, a poisoned arrow from a medusa, and the ambitions of Kija—third wife of Barbarian King Kilgor—who wants the Sword for her husband to secure their son's inheritance. Tarnum captures Gelu's captain Ufretin and turns him into an unlikely ally; Ufretin buys Tarnum enough time to eliminate Kija's army before Gelu reaches Volee, the city where the Sword is kept. Tarnum arrives too late: Kija escaped her dungeon and took the blade first. Tarnum prays to the Ancestors to not let his compassion destroy the world. As Heroes of Might and Magic IV begins, the prophecy fulfills itself—Kilgor and Gelu's blades meet in battle, triggering the Reckoning, an explosion that obliterates Enroth. Survivors escape through mysterious portals to the new world of Axeoth.
