Genji Koi Emaki

In ancient Kyoto, Princess Hikaru—the "Princess of Light," born of the emperor and his favored consort Kiritsubo—can only be approached by five men chosen by the imperial court, the Gekkou Go Kunshi. Each night they hold a secret meeting to read traditional poetry to one another. Chikage, Hikaru's servant lady, bears a striking resemblance to the princess—a fact that becomes critical the day Hikaru disappears, leaving only a kana letter behind. If the emperor discovers the princess is gone, the female servants will be dismissed. To protect her colleagues and preserve Hikaru's reputation, Chikage disguises herself as the princess and takes her place. Where is Hikaru, and what lies ahead of this strange double life?
