Satomi Hakkenden Hachitama no Ki

In an era of constant war, the protagonist has spent her life disguised as a man in the village of Otsuka, quietly waiting for the world to become safer. In one night it ends: her dog Yoshirou dies, her father commits ritual suicide, and the bewitched sword Murasamemaru falls into her hands. Her father's dying wish sends her toward the Kanto Shogunate to deliver the sword—still in disguise, still hiding who she is—as destiny travels with her in the form of birthmarks and carved spheres connecting her to others walking the same road.
