Six months after Heihachi Mishima's downfall, Jin Kazama and the armed faction Yggdrasil attempt to strike against Kazuya Mishima in New York, only to have their assault derailed when Jin's Devil Gene manifests beyond his control. The catastrophic failure forces Kazuya to expose his own demonic transformation to the global stage, and he immediately announces a new King of Iron Fist Tournament with a brutal ultimatum—nations must send fighters or face destruction. Nursing his wounds and unable to reliably summon his supernatural abilities, Jin enters the tournament qualifiers in Japan, where he meets Reina, an enigmatic fighter whose combat techniques mirror those of his deceased grandfather. As Kazuya's hidden objectives come into view and primordial forces tied to the Devil Gene begin to awaken, Jin finds himself drawn into a battle against his father while grappling with the demonic power festering within himself.
