Two years after failing to capture Ogre, Heihachi Mishima sets his bioengineers to splicing the creature's genome with his own to create a new life form — only to learn the process requires the elusive "Devil Gene," which his own bloodline lacks. He knows who carries it, though: his grandson Jin Kazama, who slew Ogre at the third tournament before Heihachi shot him, watched him transform into a Devil, and then lost track of him entirely. During his search, Heihachi uncovers a twenty-year-old photo of a burnt, wing-marked corpse he becomes convinced is his son Kazuya, whom he threw into a volcano two decades earlier. The trail leads to G Corporation, a cutting-edge biotech firm that recovered Kazuya's remains and used their genetic data to resurrect him. When Heihachi's Tekken Force raids the company's labs, Kazuya — newly reborn and seeking to merge his human and Devil halves to harness their full power for revenge — wipes out the soldiers and escapes. In response, Heihachi announces the King of Iron Fist Tournament 4, dangling control of the entire Mishima Zaibatsu as the prize, knowing full well it is a trap to lure Kazuya out. Kazuya enters anyway, eager for the chance to destroy his father. The tournament becomes a Mishima family reckoning at the temple of Honmaru: Jin is ambushed and chained there by the Tekken Force, Kazuya defeats Heihachi and tries — and fails — to drain Jin's Devil power, and a freed, enraged Jin overpowers them both. About to kill the exhausted Heihachi, Jin is stopped by a sudden memory of his mother, Jun Kazama, and spares him in her honor before spreading his Devil wings and flying off, leaving Kazuya and Heihachi unconscious in the ruins.
