Front Mission Alternative

Front Mission Alternative

Released1997
The first game in the Front Mission series to take you to the African Continent. The year is 2034 and guerilla fighters are terrorizing local governments in Africa. You are charged with breaking these terrorist organizations with the WAWs (Walking Armored Wanzers) at your disposal. Front Mission Alternative is a variation on the series' standard strategy theme in that you do not control the action, but direct it. You issue orders on a tactical map and your platoons of Wanzers carry them out on their own. Like other Front Mission titles, you can outfit your Wanzers with an assortment of weapons and equipment. Features over 30 missions and multiple endings.

About This Game

Africa, 2034. The Organization of African Consolidation was formed with EC and OCU support to help the continent stabilize, and for three years it worked. Then the five regional blocs began fighting each other, diplomacy failed, and the African Conflict ignited. The OCU and SAUS respond by deploying the Independent Mobile Assault Company — a joint unit led by 2nd Lt Earl McCoy, piloting the new bipedal weapons platform called the wanderwagen. IMAC's mission is to suppress the violence bloc by bloc. Working north from SAUS territory, the company begins encountering unknown wanderwagens fielded by terrorist forces, and an EC anti-terrorism unit supposedly deployed to help is behaving in ways that suggest a different agenda. The connections between the terrorist uprisings, the civil conflicts, the true cause of the war, and the EC's actual role in all of it emerge as IMAC fights its way toward answers.
