Jinguji has not slept soundly in a long time. The nightmares are always the same: scenes from his years working in New York, replaying with the specificity that only real memory carries. He does not discuss them with anyone. When a friend of his assistant Yōko reports a stalker problem, Jinguji handles it — or thinks he does. The friend, Nagata Yuka, vanishes shortly after. At the same time, a series of missing women cases is accumulating in the city, each one unresolved, each one pulling at the same thread Jinguji's nightmares have been circling for months.
