Type da Puyo Puyo

Type da Puyo Puyo replaces the standard two-field Puyo format with a single player field and a different combat system. Enemies on the right have two meters: Danger (which fills automatically over time) and Life (which depletes from successful player attacks). When the Danger meter fills, the player must type a displayed Japanese kanji phrase correctly; success counters incoming Garbage Puyos. After initiating a chain, a second phrase appears: correct typing multiplies the chain's damage against the enemy's Life meter. Phrase length and complexity increase with each stage. A separate practice mode provides short phrases to type after each Puyo placement.
