Yamada Hana picks up a book about the Romance of the Three Kingdoms one afternoon. A flash of light later, she wakes up in a forest in ancient China, where she meets Koumei, then Gentoku — and is immediately mistaken for a military disciple of Koumei's and ordered to command an army in battle. She has no idea what she is doing. She wins anyway.
