After an all-out battle with Ena left Ayumu without his unleashed powers and Ena sealed in a cocoon-shaped enigmatite, he set out to recover what he lost. He was drawn back to Kamioshiro-jima when news arrived that the research facility holding Ena was under attack by a new type of Neoplasm. Without his powers, the fight cost him badly. Touching Ena's cocoon brought a flash and her voice, warning him of a new enemy — the beast of the apocalypse. His powers returned. His teammates welcomed him back. What comes next is less of a homecoming than a warning.
