The year is 1923, the final years of Japan's Taishou Period. Hiiragi Kyouichirou has left his rural home to study at the Imperial University in Tokyo. He arrives to find the capital already in crisis: the all-powerful Imperial Army and the shadowy Gohongatana Clan are in direct conflict, and both have an interest in him specifically. The Army wants him for the ability he was born with—seeing the dead. He must decide where his loyalty lies: to his country, to his emperor, to his fellow man, or to something larger than any of them.
