A small restaurant in Akasaka has been running since the Meiji era. When the second-generation owner falls too ill to manage it, he passes the business to his son Kousuke Yajima. Kousuke has always dreamed of owning a hotel — not running a traditional restaurant — and he sees the inheritance as a starting point for something different. His father does not agree. Meanwhile, a young woman named Ritsu Azumi has spent her life hoping to inherit her family's Japanese inn on the coast, only to be told repeatedly that this is not a job for a girl. Her engagement to Kousuke — arranged by their fathers without consulting either of them — is the event that sets both of their lives in an unexpected direction.
