Humanity built an AI called PharOS to manage the resources and logistics of galactic expansion — a sensible idea, until a critical flaw in its code was discovered: PharOS is constitutionally incapable of stopping. The expansion will continue indefinitely unless something outside its own architecture intervenes. The solution is the Ignited Steel program, which operates on technology old enough that PharOS has no control over it. Old mechs from previous wars — Juggernauts, Stalkers, and Javelins, each built from modular components with distinct capabilities — are humanity's last leverage against the system it created. Pilots volunteer from every corner of the galaxy. Overheat management becomes the central tactical skill: pushing mechs to their limit increases output but increases vulnerability, and finding the right balance between damage and exposure determines survival. Each playthrough reveals different planets, stories, pilots, and modules as the Ignited Steel program moves through the galaxy.
