Mushroom Kingdom Meltdown

Somewhere in the future, a mysterious enemy detonates a nuclear weapon in the Mushroom Kingdom and destroys it entirely. Mario — and possibly Luigi — manage to follow the perpetrator back through a time machine before the destruction is complete. They are now tracking a time traveler through history, collecting clues about when the bomb goes off and who set it, working backward toward a moment that has not arrived yet — or perhaps, depending on which way you look at the timeline, already has.
