Human scientific civilization has advanced far enough to build a warpgate network that makes interplanetary travel nearly instantaneous. The solar system has become accessible to ordinary people. Then an unknown planet is detected, and survey data reveals something extraordinary: mineral deposits large enough to sustain human civilization for millions of years.
