Alan Goldberg writes slasher scripts for Hollywood in 1985. His career has stalled and everyone in the industry knows it. Then an eccentric millionaire named Helen Westmore makes him an offer: find the final, unpublished work of the legendary horror director Edward Keller — a film widely believed to be the most frightening ever made — and she will give Alan anything he wants. The trail takes him through B-movie production companies, VFX workshops, and a religious cult, before landing him in a small, deeply unsettling town called Serena, where Keller was last seen before vanishing entirely.
