Foreigner Teacher

An American who recently lost his job and has no prospects left takes the only opening he can find: an English-teaching position in Japan. He speaks no Japanese and knows almost nothing about the culture. When he arrives, he immediately encounters a very strange pair of spirits who attach themselves to him and show no signs of leaving. He has a full year of this ahead of him. Whether he makes it through or gets driven to the edge is up to how well he manages an assignment that turned out to be considerably more unusual than the job listing suggested.
