Lakeside communities across the region pass down stories of the Water's Caboclo — a folkloric creature of rivers and lakes that can help or harm the fisherfolk it coexists with. In some remote communities, the traditional offerings made to appease the Caboclo have been replaced by something older and more dangerous: a dice game played against the creature, with survival on the line. Amateur reporter Bento traveled to one of these communities to document the folklore during a night fishing trip. What happened when he gambled with the lake is the record this game presents.
