Frank and his daughter Lorie moved into an old house weeks ago. The previous owner vanished under circumstances no one has explained. When Frank found Lorie's favorite doll and crayons sitting beside the old red refrigerator in the basement, he discovered what the fridge actually is: something with otherworldly power that kills anyone who looks away from it. Frank has been sitting in the basement staring at it for days. Not just out of fear — out of hope that somehow, impossibly, it might give him his daughter back.
