Off to Sleep

Hans grew up in a poor farming family with his future already decided for him: he would inherit the land, work it as his ancestors had, and repeat the cycle. Hans has never been enthusiastic about this plan. As he gets older, he keeps raising alternatives, and his parents keep rejecting them. The distance between Hans and his family grows wider until one night, after a fight at the dinner table, he makes a decision. He leaves for the city, where he believes a different kind of life is waiting.
