The Safe Place

The early 1990s, a post-Soviet city grinding through an economic crisis. Alexander is an ordinary engineer. Christina is a twelve-year-old girl with a difficult past. By accident, Alexander kills a man. Christina witnesses it. Terrified of the consequences, Alexander destroys the evidence and persuades the girl to say nothing. In exchange, she asks him to help with problems of her own. At first it seems like a reasonable deal. Things do not stay reasonable for long.
