Shortly before the opening of Kuronekotei in the Republic of Altaria, Lilia is being hunted in a country occupied by the Imperial Army. A relaxed autonomous doll named Haizakura saves her, and Lilia asks for help reaching Lobelia. In the parallel story, Karasuba wakes from maintenance on a small resort island run by the Imperial Army, assigned a maid-doll role by dollmaker Nagi Touma. As the spring thaw approaches, the distant sound of war grows closer.
