One day, a girl rows towards Selinuntius's island alone with an oar in injured hands and a smile on her face. What Selinuntius first believed was her effortlessly luring another victim morphs into the realization that the girl, Melos, could never hear her song in the first place—

Selinuntius, the last siren, has lived apart from her kind for ages after being stranded while searching for Persephone. Every attempt by the nearby village to kill her has failed — her song always reaches those who approach her island before they can act. Then a girl named Melos rows toward the island alone, injured hands on the oar, smiling.
