The ruler Flamington explains the situation: Mario's career of knocking out enemy minions drastically outweighs his Princess-rescue good deeds on the cosmic scales. Flamington offers a deal — complete a series of mock rescue missions to tip the balance back in Mario's favor and earn his way out.
