Fate/Stay Night Remastered is set in Fuyuki City, where an ancient ritual called the Holy Grail War unfolds between seven magi — Masters — competing to claim the Holy Grail, an artifact said to grant any wish. Each Master summons a legendary Heroic Spirit called a Servant to fight on their behalf. Four previous Wars have all ended without a victor. Shirou Emiya was a child when the Fourth Holy Grail War destroyed everything around him. The mage Kiritsugu Emiya pulled him out of the fire and adopted him, extracting a promise before his death: that Shirou would become a Hero of Justice. Years later, Shirou is drawn into the new Holy Grail War entirely by accident. In the instant a Servant is about to take his life, a girl in knightly armor intervenes to save him. The bond between the Master who survived and the Heroic Spirit of the Sword has been set in motion.
