Monica's Newlywed Life

Monica, Kyle, and Sophia set out to defeat the Demon Lord after he destroyed their village, which is exactly the kind of quest that sounds more achievable when grief is fresh than it turns out to be in practice. They spend their adventure fighting the Demon Lord's subordinates and doing odd jobs, which is the realistic outcome of three people without the power needed for the goal they set. Then a proper hero comes along and defeats the Demon Lord without them, eliminating the purpose of the whole endeavor. Kyle proposes to Monica. They settle in Clematis with Sophia. Citizenship in Clematis costs one million gold. They have sixty days to earn it. The grand quest is over; the actual challenge has just begun.
