The Maple Manor sits hidden in the mountains, and it is home to four devoted maids. The young author Kusakabe Akira finds it almost by accident, arriving to deliver a letter from his deceased grandmother. The head maid receives the letter and then presents him with two conditions: remain as a guest, and write a story set within the manor's walls. Akira is stuck creatively and has nothing better to do, so he agrees and moves in temporarily. He meets four maids, each named after a flower. Life in the manor is slow and pleasant in ways that make the secrets running underneath it all the more apparent, and Akira's time there will change what he understands about both writing and the world he thought he knew.
