In a Japan where government agents conduct official exorcisms, Mizuki Shiraishi of the Kinki Spiritual Affairs Bureau is dispatched to Saiga Village to investigate a disturbing anomaly: all digital traces of the village have been scrubbed from the internet. When she arrives, she finds the village entirely evacuated, the area overrun by an abnormally high concentration of unlawful spirits, and every utility and communication system severed. Someone is actively managing this situation from behind the events. Shiraishi works the case in near-isolation, her only connection to the outside world being radio contact with her supervisor Kohinata and her junior colleague Maruoka.
