Having lost her home and the trust of her family through the scheming of a cruel stepmother, Kandita finds herself alone on a beach at the edge of the South Sea with nothing left. The Queen of the Southern Sea finds her there and offers something unexpected: shelter, safety, and a position as the Queen's personal lady-in-waiting.
