Carol receives a call from Immodia, an old acquaintance who has lived for decades in the shadow of a horrifying family tragedy from her childhood — an event so inexplicable that she gave up long ago on ever understanding it. Then a message arrives from her mother, after twenty-four years of total silence. Immodia reaches out to Carol. Whatever the message means, she cannot face it alone.
