Portland's most talked-about punk band, Pupula Duplex, is hitting the road at last. Leila — the band's bassist, lead vocalist, and most superstitious member — starts picking up on omens as soon as the tour begins and becomes increasingly convinced that the whole thing is doomed. She may be right. The group includes Brodie, the band's relentlessly optimistic founder and drummer; Vyvienne, the keyboardist whose refined composure only disappears when she gets to really rock out; and Dakota, the lead guitarist who takes particular pleasure in agitating Leila and whose sharp, perceptive mind is well-disguised beneath the goth exterior. An old Astoria house is involved. The haunting may or may not be real. The punk music definitely is.
