Darius Twin

Darius Twin

Released1991
Darius Twin is a shoot 'em up video game released for the Super NES in 1991. It was the first new installment in the Darius series to not be originally designed for the arcades, and also the first to have a normal 4:3 screen-ratio. Interestingly, while it's a unique game in the Darius series, it appears to reuse sprites and background designs from Darius and Darius II. Also, while the names of the bosses are new, they really are reworkings of previous bosses for the most part.

About This Game

Centuries after a heroic couple named Proco and Tiat led their people to safety from the tyrannical Belser's invasion of their homeworld Darius, the scattered refugees have regrouped across the galaxy under the banner of the Galactic Federation. Now, as Belser's empire expands once more and threatens the peaceful worlds the Federation has built, two elite pilots stand ready to mount a desperate counteroffensive in their transforming warships called Silver Hawks. Their objective is to fight through Belser's occupied territories, systematizing planet by planet, ultimately reaching the fortress world Darius itself to confront the Alloylantern—the mechanical stronghold that channels all of Belser's technological might. Drawing inspiration from the legendary defiance of their ancestors, these two pilots must navigate a sprawling galactic war to dismantle an enemy whose technology mysteriously mirrors oceanic life forms, suggesting origins in a world lost to time.
