During the Third Crusade's aftermath in 1193, King Richard the Lionheart falls into captivity when Austrian forces intercept him on his journey home from the Holy Land, and a substantial ransom is demanded for his release. It falls to Robin Hood and his band of forest outlaws to orchestrate a daring campaign of redistribution—taking from wealthy nobles and using the spoils to accumulate the ransom that might restore the rightful king to his throne.
