E.V.O.: Search for Eden

E.V.O.: Search for Eden

Released1992
The storyline of E.V.O.: Search for Eden follows the same patterns as modern Evolution theories. The players first controls a prehistoric sea organism, and fights to gain evolution points with which he can improve his fish's body parts and upgrade his attack/defense abilities. The gameplay is not completely linear, which means that certain choices of paths and stages will affect the player's success. The game is composed of a series of stages, in which the sea organism slowly evolves into an amphibian, and later a land-only creature. The physical changes are fairly scientifically accurate which gives the game a semi-educational purpose as well.

About This Game

A creature born from Gaia's creative will must navigate Earth through countless ages of evolutionary struggle, competing with billions of other lifeforms for the ultimate prize: partnership with Gaia herself in the legendary Garden of Eden. However, the planet's natural development grows increasingly corrupted as mysterious crystalline structures begin appearing across the land, granting monstrous power to any creature that consumes them and warping life's intended progression into chaos and domination. Each evolutionary epoch forces the player's character to confront these crystal-corrupted abominations and restore balance to the world's biological order. In the final age, a shocking truth emerges: a grotesque entity called Bolbox, a twisted single-celled organism that has evolved into a thinking being through crystal consumption, has been manipulating life itself and now stands as the sole competitor for Gaia's hand. The player must defeat this ancient aberration in a final confrontation that will determine which lifeform deserves to enter Eden and receive the gift of true consciousness.
