Irem Collection: Volume 3 brings together three arcade games from IREM's catalog. Battle Chopper (Mr. Heli, 1987) follows a small orange helicopter named Mr. Heli through inventive multi-directional stages filled with crystals to mine, weapons to upgrade, and massive bosses; both the original M-92 arcade version and the 1989 PC Engine version are included. Mystic Riders (1992) is an aerial co-op shooter in which the wizard Mark and the witch Zeal ride broomsticks through a fantasy world of dragons, grim reapers, and sky turtles—a lighter, more comedic register than IREM's usual style. Dragon Breed casts the player as a rider aboard the massive dragon Bahamoot, whose tail blocks enemy projectiles while the rider handles the shooting—a biomechanical shooter with design similarities to R-Type.
