A purple automobile with a gift for conversation awakes to hear an exciting announcement: a grand parade is set to roll through town. Eager to participate in the festivities, Putt-Putt seeks out Smokey the Fire Engine for guidance on entry requirements. Smokey explains that three items are essential to join the procession: a companion animal, a festive balloon, and sufficient currency to either spruce up the car's appearance with a fresh wash or vibrant new paint. What follows is Putt-Putt's quest to gather these necessities and earn his place among the parade's participants.
