Kuro no Ken

Kuro no Ken

Released1995
Kuro no Ken is a rather standard Japanese-style RPG with all the familiar ingredients: top-down locations, navigation on the world map, random enemies, turn-based combat, automatic leveling up, etc. The battles are viewed from a third-person perspective, using much larger character sprites than during exploration. Shinobu and Kayes can use physical attacks or magic spells (learned automatically when leveling up), which deplete MP.

About This Game

Long ago, the Black Dragon laid waste to human settlements until a magically-charged weapon called the Blade of Darkness drove it back and sealed it away. Now, a dark cult has begun working toward the dragon's resurrection. Shinobu Ryudo—a young warrior of the Dark-Haired tribe—sets out across the continent to recover the vanished sword and stop the ritual before it succeeds. She is not alone in the search; the warrior Kayes has received a prophecy pointing him toward the same blade.
