Mario's Tennis for the Virtual Boy showcases the system's stereoscopic 3D by rendering tennis courts with genuine perceived depth, helping players judge the distance between the ball and their character more intuitively. Seven familiar faces from the Mushroom Kingdom—Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool, Yoshi, Toad, Donkey Kong Jr., and one more—are each tuned for different strengths in speed, power, or racket coverage. Players can choose between a single match or a three-game tournament, in singles or doubles, on easy, normal, or hard difficulty. Despite being announced, two-player support was never implemented because the required link cable was never released.
