Tamahiko Shima is the second son of a calculating and wealthy family. A car accident paralyzes his right arm and kills his mother; his father, deeming him useless to the family's ambitions, sends him away to a remote mountain villa in Chiba rather than face the shame of an outright dismissal. Resigning himself to a quiet and forgotten end, Tamahiko is blindsided one December night when a girl named Yuzuki Tachibana arrives at his door and announces that she has come to be his caretaker, and when she is of age, his bride. His father arranged it. Though Yuzu was sold into the role from an impoverished home, she throws herself into it with infectious energy—and Tamahiko finds his resignation tested.
