Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

For eighty years, the land of Valeria has known nothing but strife, with its three leading ethnic groups each claiming the right to rule. King Rodrick, wielding the forbidden powers of the "Palace of the Dead," dominated Valeria's people until Dorgalua of Bakram led his army to defeat him. Dorgalua then took the throne himself and, for a time, ended the conflict between the ethnic groups, preserving the people's rights and bringing the kingdom's internal struggles to a halt. That peace shatters when a string of accidents wipes out the entire royal family. With the late King Dorgalua leaving no living heir, the ethnic groups resume their fight for power: Abuna Brantyn of the royal court, Heirophant Balbatos of the Galgastani, and Duke Ronwey of the Walister all vie for control, until Balbatos and Brantyn reach a stalemate. To protect their positions, the two take drastic measures — Balbatos pursues an "ethnic cleansing" that slaughters thousands of innocent Walister and Galgastani, while Brantyn calls in foreign aid from the Dark Knights Loslorien of the Holy Lodis Empire. The story's hero is Denam Pavel, son of Abuna Prancet. After Prancet is taken away by the Dark Knights and his hometown is massacred, Denam — together with his sister Catiua and his friend Vyce — vows vengeance against them, taking up the leadership of the "Liberation Army" to win freedom for the oppressed nation of Valeria.
