Kizuna Encounter: Super Tag Battle

Released1996
Kizuna Encounter: Super Tag Battle is a fast tag‑team fighting game that swaps Savage Reign’s two‑plane system for dynamic tag combat, emphasizing team synergy, chain combos, and simplified controls for more fluid, strategic matches. Players pick two fighters, use tag cancels and partner assists to extend combos and shift momentum in high‑risk 2D arcade battles. The roster is largely retained with Nicola and Carol replaced by Rosa and Kim Sue Il. A new final boss, Jyazu, blends moves from Gozu and Mezu, adding extra challenge.

About This Game

A year ago, King Leo's Battle of the Beast God tournament ended in humiliation. Nine fighters entered; Sho Hayate won, defeating both King Leo and the impersonator King Lion in the final round. Now Leo wants revenge, and he has reshaped the format: the second tournament requires competitors to fight in teams of two. Almost everyone from the original tournament is back—except Carol Stanzack, committed to her gymnastics training, and Nicola Zaza, deep in a new scientific project. Two new challengers have also entered, each with their own reason for being there. What is new is the shadow hanging over the competition—something unknown is moving inside it, and the fighters may have more than King Leo to worry about.
