Sune is at the resort for winter break, and Sophie is also there, which is both the best and worst thing that could have happened. Sophie is the neighbor's daughter and Sune has been in love with her as long as he can remember. He manages, almost immediately, to antagonize her. Sophie does not forgive lightly but she does give conditions: complete a series of tasks — not easy ones — and she will consider his invitation to the Friday disco. Each day of the week brings a new puzzle. Monday's task is writing her name in the snow at the top of the slalom hill, which requires more preparation than it sounds. The week unfolds as adventure-style challenges, each a prerequisite for the next, all in service of a single evening that may or may not justify the effort.
