Callahan's Crosstime Saloon is a puzzle-solving adventure game based on Spider Robinson's series of stories about the unusual patrons of Callahan's bar. The characters in the game are taken from the first book of the series, though their stories are original. The game's world is composed of still screens viewed from first-person perspective. The interaction is point-and-click, with context menus appearing when the player attempts to interact with an object on screen.

Mike Callahan runs a bar on Long Island that attracts the kind of clientele most establishments would struggle to accommodate: time travelers, mythological figures, and aliens all feel at home over a drink. Jake Stonebender, a traveling guitarist carrying an old tragedy and a compulsion to help people, has become a fixture. The patrons who drift through Callahan's come with problems that are rarely ordinary: a vampire searching for a love lost across centuries, an alien whose pacifist conscience puts him at odds with his own civilization, and a dire threat to the world's rainforests. Jake takes each one seriously, working his way through a series of conversations, puzzles, and interventions that may or may not be enough to tip the balance toward something better.
