Star Trek: Starfleet Academy

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy

Released1997
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is a PC Star Trek simulation game that simulates the life of a typical Starfleet cadet. The object in the game is for the player to learn the basics of flying a starship so that the player can eventually become a captain of one's very own ship. It includes a simulation battle mode in which the player can pilot and fight ships of their choosing. It's also the first time in a video game that free-motion CGI filming took place. The in-game movies, directed by Martin Denning, at the time represented a breakthrough in CGI-Live Action rendering.

About This Game

David Forester begins his career at Starfleet Command College in San Francisco as a raw cadet, tasked with earning the respect of a diverse crew that includes Vulcan navigator Sturek, Andorian pilot Vanda M'Giia, human engineer Robin Brady, Trill science officer Jana Akton, and human tactician Geoff Corin. Training missions grow progressively more complex, culminating in the legendary Kobayashi Maru no-win scenario. But the stakes escalate beyond simulation when a militant organization called the Vanguard begins pushing toward open rebellion, and Forester must decide how far he's willing to go—either to uncover their conspiracy or to face dismissal from the Academy in disgrace.
