During a frenzied mining expedition on Ingot Isle, Donkey Kong pursues the legendary Banandium Gems only to discover they've been seized by VoidCo, a ruthless corporation whose tyrannical leader Void Kong intends to harness their power to drill toward the planet's core in search of the Banandium Root—an ancient artifact rumored to fulfill the deepest wishes of its possessor. Plunged into a subterranean realm teeming with animal civilizations and wise elders, Donkey Kong encounters a young girl named Pauline held captive by Void and gains mystical abilities that will prove crucial to his mission.
