Long ago in a distant galaxy, a massive alien spacecraft the size of a planet crashed into the Solar System, giving Earth its moon and leaving a handful of alien survivors sealed in suspended animation. In 1917, a drunken shot from the naval cruiser Aurora — meant for the Tsar's Winter Palace during the October Revolution — hit the Moon instead, deactivating the sleep machines and waking the survivors. The remaining aliens, intent on invading Earth, spot a road sign through their telescope reading "Backwoods is a Hub of the Earth" and decide to launch their global conquest from that tiny Russian village — just as Bolsheviks and anti-communist White forces have already settled into a standoff there, neither side gaining ground. Then the aliens arrive and change everything.
