Shuujin he no Pert-em-Hru is a Japanese freeware role-playing game developed in RPG Maker Dante 98 II by Makoto Yaotani. The phrase “Pert-em-Hru” references the Egyptian Book of the Dead, so the title can be understood as meaning “The Book of the Dead for the Prisoners.” The game was made by a two-person team, although Yaotani carried out most of the development work, and it took about a year and a half to complete.

About This Game

Professor Tsuchida, an expert archaeologist, takes his assistant Kōji Kuroe on an unauthorized expedition into the lower levels of the Great Pyramid of Giza. The excavator hired for the trip is decapitated by a wire almost immediately, establishing what kind of place they have entered. The professor, unwilling to turn back, responds by luring a nearby Japanese tour group into the pyramid to serve as human shields. What follows is a descent of escalating severity, with each level of the pyramid delivering punishment corresponding to the sins or failings of whoever triggered it. The professor continues pressing deeper regardless of what happens to the people around him.
