Langrisser IV & V: Final Edition

Two games in one package. In Langrisser IV: General Gizarov selects a single small town called Gotaal as his reward from King Cleons, then immediately crushes it with taxes. Landius, the mayor's son, cannot convince Gizarov to stop, and eventually joins the people's rebellion rather than continue appealing to power with no interest in their welfare. In Langrisser V: The artificial human Sigma is awakened in one of Gizarov's labs by Lambda — another of his creations — as the lord Rainforce invades the facility. Sigma and Lambda escape to Regenburg while the artificial human Omega holds Rainforce back. Their journey eventually leads toward a new leader of darkness who is pursuing the evil sword Alhazard — a threat neither of them was built to handle.
