Darkstone

Darkstone

Released1999
Darkstone is an action role-playing game with a medieval fantasy setting, played solo or in multiplayer and often compared to Diablo. Players choose from paired character types such as warrior or Amazon, wizard or sorceress, assassin or thief, and monk or priestess, then travel across four increasingly difficult lands to complete quests, fight monsters, and explore dungeons. Gameplay centers on improving character stats and gear, learning spells from spellbooks, and picking up skills like lockpicking and trap disarming, while a central village serves as a hub for trading, banking, and restocking supplies. Randomly selected quests and shifting dungeon layouts vary each playthrough.

About This Game

A once-righteous monk named Draak rebelled against Kaliba, the deity of light, and descended into draconic monstrosity before meeting defeat at the hands of the Time Orb—a sacred relic born from the goddess's own tears. Recognizing the artifact's danger, the ancients shattered it into seven crystals and scattered them across the lands of Uma. Now Draak has stirred from his slumber and risen again, wielding the corrupting power of the Darkstone to drain life itself from the world and spread desolation across every realm. An unnamed hero must traverse Uma's hostile terrain and labyrinthine dungeons, hunting down each hidden crystal to restore the Time Orb and face the dragon in his stronghold before all hope is consumed by his darkness.
